What is your time frame for needing materials?

It is important to note that all material is not available immediately.

If your research need is not readily available in the the SJR Library resources, please keep in mind the following time requirements:

An intra-campus loan:  The SJR courier comes daily Monday through Friday. Depending on the time of your request, a book or other material requested form another campus library can take between 1 and 3 business days.

An inter-library loan: The books requested from another Library outside of the SJR Campus Libraries is delivered by a private courier. This type of loan can take up to 10 days, or longer, to receive on campus.

It is important to plan and start searching early enough to receive all needed research materials in order to complete your assignments within the the time frame required.

Interlibrary loan

St. Johns River State College maintains a library to serve the students on each of our three campuses; Orange Park, Palatka and St. Augustine. The services and resources available at each location are provided to help you as a student achieve your goal of academic excellence. Each campus has knowledgeable, friendly, professional librarians and staff ready to assist you.

SJR State Libraries offer reference services to all students during our operating hours. We are available to:

  • Answer questions and provide information
  • Help define search terms and locate the appropriate resources
  • Provide one-on-one instruction on all available online and print resources
  • Provide instructional handouts on accessing the Library's resources from home
  • Assist in locating materials that may be available from other libraries and requesting that item via inter-library loan

Ask our Librarians

Librarians are available to assist in person, over the phone, by email, or through the statewide Ask-A-Librarian online chat service. For information on how to contact our librarians go to our Ask-A-Librarian page.

Inter-library Loan

If you are unable to find resources in the collection both digital and print at one campus locations of the St Johns River State College Library to satisfy your research need, you are able to request materials from another state college through the College catalog system.

You also have access to other Library resources, via the SJR Public Services Librarian.  If you are unable to access what you need through the catalog request, contact your Public Services librarian who can access resources from University, Public and other academic Libraries across the country.

Nondigital Material

In some cases, you will not be able to find things online.   When doing historical research, for example, you may need to browse microfilm of a historical newspaper. or artifacts from a church registry. Before the Internet, videos maybe kept on DVD/CD or VHS tapes or audio on cassette tapes.
