Featured Database

Alexander Street's Academic Video Online Collection

Cross-search Alexander Street Press streaming videos across such subjects as health policy, nursing, rehabilitation therapy, medical imaging and more. The materials include documentaries, interviews, feature films, performances, news programs and newsreels, and demonstrations.  

Also included in this database is Nursing and Mental Health in Video: A Symptom Media Collection.  Students and faculty have access to over 240 videos of the most common mental health disorders nurses may encounter – whether in a primary care setting, emergency room, medical, psychiatric or other.

Alexander Street films can also be embedded directly into Canvas!

 

Flipster

A screen shot of the Flipster appFlipster is an online subscription platform that lets you download, read, print, and hear current issues of popular magazines subscribed to by the SJR State Library on any computer or mobile device for free if you are a current SJR State student or employee! 

To use Flipster on a computer or mobile device via the web, visit the Flipster web site. If you are prompted to sign in, use your SJR State email address and password.

To use the Flipster app on your mobile device, download the Flipster app and log in to St. Johns River State College's account with your SJR State email address and password. 

 

The Library is dedicated to supporting faculty through services and academic support.  A Faculty Resource Guide that highlights these services has been created to support you and your students.  The Guide includes information about collection development, Copyright Assistance, tutoring and supplemental instruction, Content Creation Center, Instructional Design & Canvas Help, and more.

Research and Resource Guides

The librarians create Research Guides or LibGuides, to guide students to quality information in a variety of areas based on subject matter or course.  The Research Guides generally include book and database recommendations as well as citation assistance, websites and more.  Contact Joyce Smith if you would like to have a Guide created for one or more of your courses.  

Enhance Your Courses with Library Content

Want to embed a film from Swank or an article from CINAHL into Canvas?  The Library now has the capability to integrate content into Canvas for you.  We can embed databases, articles, streaming videos, images, chapters and more. 

We are also available to ...... 

  • Create resource pages in Canvas that include databases of interest for your specific class
  • Create captioned video tutorials for any library resource
  • Update existing links to library content in Canvas
