Copyright Law & the Works Found on the Internet

While you access the Library's resources via the internet, the Library's pre-licensed material found in databases or the catalog are not freely available/accessible to all internet users; SJR State pays a fee to license that content and make it available to our students online.

Does that mean can you do whatever you want with material you find on the internet for free? The answer is a firm, no. Remember, copyright protection is granted to a content creator upon creating material. Everything on the internet belongs to someone unless it is in the public domain. Having free access to material online does not mean that material is in the public domain.
