Alexander Street for Faculty

From the vendor - Academic Video Online [from Alexander Street Video] has a wide range of subject areas including anthropology, business, counseling, film, health, history, music, and more. It includes a variety of video material available with curricular relevance: documentaries, interviews, feature films, performances, news programs and newsreels, demonstrations, and raw footage. Patrons will find thousands of award-winning films, including Academy®, Emmy®, and Peabody® winners. 

Access

Go to learningresources.sjrstate.edu/AlexanderStreet If you are prompted, sign in with your MySJRstate username & password.

If you created a personal account, look at the top corner of the screen.

If your name is displayed, you're all set. If the person icon is visible, sign in with the email address & password you used to set up your personal account.  

Licensing

All titles are available right now. You do not need to arrange to license a title in advance.  

Cost

Every film is free to watch for the first 3 views lasting over 30 seconds. On the 4th view, the Library is charged $150 for 1 year of unlimited access. Perpetual rights are available for some films for a higher price. If you plan to show a film forever, contact Dr. Christina Will, Dean of Learning Resources.

Terms

Videos from Alexander Street include public performance rights that allow them to be used in the educational setting. 

Accessibility

Videos are closed captioned and interactive transcripts are provided. Audio descriptions are available for some titles and may be requested. 

Canvas Integration

Faculty can embed films from Alexander Street directly into Canvas using the LTI in Canvas. In the edit window, click the icon for More External Tools, & select Alexander Street Video
