If you haven't read a Liane Moriarty book by now I think you really should. Even if the name isn't ringing a bell you are probably familiar with her writing because a few of her more popular titles have made it to television- Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers- with Nicole Kidman starring in both series. I finished up my seventh title by this author last night and felt compelled to sing her praises today. Moriarty is an author that never seems to disappoint me because she delivers a gem every single time she writes. I hope this post motivates you to take a chance on this bestselling author- I don't think you'll be disappointed!

If you aren't familiar just yet with Liane let me introduce her before we talk about her books. She's an Australian author and six of her books are international bestsellers (author bio). Liane became the first Australian author to have a novel debut number one on the New York Times bestsellers list (author bio). The six international bestsellers include:

Her two newer titles include:

The Seattle Public Library summed up Moriarty's appeal succinctly, "Australian writer Liane Moriarty strikes the perfect balance between witty, insightful writing on the challenges of family life and relationships and mounting tension that builds to a suspenseful climax." Her characters feel like people you would know... maybe even family members. The topics are big and sometimes yucky but relatable. She feeds you a story slowly and builds the perfect amount of suspense- she's able to keep you hooked, engaged, and emotional throughout the entire book. I often find myself laughing out loud or gasping in surprise while reading her books. It's fun!

The thing that I personally love the most about Liane Moriarty is that I know that I'll enjoy her books no matter what the topic is. If I'm looking for something to read that I know I'll enjoy I can turn to her. And if you're curious, her books are great in both print and audio format.

If you'd like to give her a try and are not sure where to start I'd recommend reading over the synopsis of each of her books and picking the one that sounds the most interesting to you. If you can't decide, Big Little Lies, is arguably her most popular title so that would be a safe choice. And, if you haven't seen the show yet you could watch it after you've finished the book. Looky there- I've just helped you plan out your holiday break!

I finished Apples Never Fall last night and truly enjoyed it. It tackles some difficult topics (domestic violence, murder) but in a way that promotes intrigue more so than dread. Throughout the book, I found my feelings toward each character changing at the drop of a hat, much like they do in real life. I was very invested in the plight of this family and couldn't rest until I'd reached the end of the story. Overall, it was just a great story given to me by a great storyteller. What's not to love about that?

I hope this has convinced you to give Moriarty a try. Feel free to contact me to chat more about her works. And, I'd love to help you track down a title to read (that we can talk more about later)!

Happy reading!
