Learning Resources for Faculty

Information for SJR State Faculty - Library, Tutoring, Distance Learning

The Learning Resources Department includes the Library, Tutoring, and Distance Learning. We provide academic support services and resources to SJR State's students and employees.

What Can We Do for You?

At Learning Resources, we are here to help you connect students to the information and resources they'll need to succeed - and if we can't help, we'll find someone who can! Below are some of the services we offer. Need something else? Let me know! - Dr. Christina Will, Dean of Learning Resources

Class Instruction about Library Resources and More

A Librarian can visit your classroom in person or online to provide students various levels of instruction using the Library's catalog, databases, and online tools. A Librarian will consult with you to customize the content of instructional sessions for students in any class you teach. A Librarian can also provide information literacy instruction for students in your classes on such topics as avoiding plagiarism, determining credible sources, or complying with copyright law. Contact a Librarian to schedule a class visit on campus or online!

Content Creation Center

Each campus has a Content Creation Center where you can work with an Instructional Designer to make amazing course content! Students can use it, too! More info coming soon!

Copyright Assistance

Got copyright questions? Check out our Copyright Information for SJR State Employees guide or contact the Dean of Learning Resources, Dr. Christina Will, for help. Also, contact Christina if there is a film you use in class and would like to have available online.

Custom Library Resource Pages

For any class you teach, a Librarian can create a resources page for you to embed in Canvas and/or create stand-alone web pages that will connect students directly with Library resources of particular use to students in your class. A Librarian will consult with you to create the form of content you prefer as well as the type of resources you would like to have featured for your students. Learn more.

Instructional Design & Canvas Help

Our Instructional Designers can help you create or update courses in Canvas and help with any of the tools we use to deliver online classes. Learn more.

Library Services

The Library provides faculty access to books, DVDs, online periodicals, and databases as well as faculty Reserves and film licensing services. Check out the Library Resources for Faculty page on this guide or visit the Learning Resources website to access all of our great resources!

Student Outreach

A Librarian or Academic Support Coordinator can visit your classroom in person or online to give students a quick introduction to the Tutoring services and/or the Library resources we provide. These general overviews are not instructional in nature - they are informational and are intended to increase student awareness of available academic supports and the friendly faces waiting to help them in the Library! Contact a Librarian or Academic Support Coordinator to schedule a class visit!
